Dyed my hair brown and now have green highlights. How do I get them out?

I had blonde hair with highlights but my natural color has been getting darker and darker over the last two years. I've given up trying to stay blonde and wanted to return to my now brown root color. I went through 3 colors to find the right one to match my new/natural brown color. I used a neutral shade (Wella 411). In the sunlight it is a beautiful dark brown, a shade lighter than my eyebrows, with shimmers/highlights of copper. In flourescent lighting it's green!!! Without dying again or doing anything harsh is there any option? Will the green go away if I do nothing? I bought a shampoo with red/brown in it but that's only good for each shampoo. And what about a henna? Thanks!

hehe sorry this has happened to me too I was in hardressing school and didnt know about this but now i do so let me share....

when you dye your hair blond its bleach what it does is it strips you natural hair colour from the hair cell leaving just the hair cell so when you put brown hairdye on top the brown dye has nothing to hold to because the bleach stripped it away now if you think about it if you have a yellow crayon and you put brown over it what colour does it turn ?? .. ... ..GREEN! eww lol and thats what happened so in order to get rid of this you need a RED tone not exactly red but something with a red tint in .... since you already dyed over the blond your going to have to mix it and just leave it on for a few minutes and a few weeks later if you do see a little bit red tones just dye it brown again but give it some time so you dont fry your hair but in future reference you dont need to mix the red with the developer cream just use the colour that you mix into the sqeeze bottle and put it in your hair and blot it out with paper towels and then go ahead and put in your brown mixed with the developer. Trust me I did this and my hair was so green i looked like a witch! i cried lol but we figured it out.... Why Red you ask???? Because in a Natural Brown hair colour there is a undertone coulour under it thats why when you bleach your hair you see it lift through different colours before it goes blond so red is a brown undertone a more ligt colour like dirty blond would have more of a orangy undertone! Anyways Good Luck!!!!!!

Henna might help, although most helpful approach is to invest in a good hair colorist at reliable hair salon and consider at home maintenance afterward.

Do NOT use henna. It stains the hair and damages dyed hair. What works to get green out is red. Mix 1 oz. auburn dye with whatever shade of brown you want. Just make sure you use two of the same product line (ie both loreal feria). Hope that helps.
