Dying red hair brown?

my hair is like redish brownish. more red though. i really dont like it and want to dye it brown, not to dark but yeah. my mom wont let me though, she said that a have a "unique" hair color and dying it would ruin it and that it would be hard to keep up and all. i havnt really heard of people with red hair dying it brown though. i dont have dark red hair, or really red hair but yeah would the color take or whatever. also some people have told me it might turn out purple? what could i say to my mom to let me do it. and should i go to a professional or would like the box color work?

I would go see a professional. Especially with distinct colored hairs, it can get a little tricky and box color will turn out a lot differently. Dying your hair will "ruin" your hair for the time being. Your hair will be a little more dry and a little more 'straw-like' because of the chemicals but it will grow out the same as before so it's worth giving it a shot to see if you like it.

My friend has red hair and she recently had it dyed a chestnut brown. But she went to a hairdresser. I think red hair is really hard to "take". I'd definitely go to a professional just in case ;)

i would say that it would depend on how old you are. try telling your mom that you don't want to change it forever, but just for a little while. be reasonable and calm, and maybe she will come around. on the flip side, you can always have it done and deal with the consequences later. me personally, i would talk to my mom.

if you go ahead and do it, i would have it done professionally. They will make sure that your hair won't turn purple. If you use a box color make sure that you get one that has blond tints in it and not red. Have fun
