I want to get highlights but i don't know what color for dark brown hair?

I have dark brown hair, its almost black but not quite. I want to get highlights, but the last time i got them they came out brassy. Can you suggest colors that would look nice? or show me pictures pleasee.

well, you can do blonde, but my friend has real dark hair like that, and they came out a little too strong, because of the contrast, I would suggest that you put in some lighter brown highlights too, if you want to do blonde, but red would be fun, again, I would suggest doing a brown with it, to even out things, so it isn't too strong. I have pretty dark hair and My stylist told me carmal...I got it and it looks AWESOME I suggest carmel...but your face shape has to do a lot with it too

You should get like a sandy brown color or auburn. Dont get any off the wall colors, it makes you look kinda crazy.

Sorry, I can't fine any pics for this but something really pretty and stand outy(is that even a word?) is a violet or fire engine red. I recommend this to anyone with dark brown hair, becuase that's what I do and it always looks fabulous!

having dark brown hair can be difficult to lift up to a pretty blonde. if you pull it through a cap instead of having it foiled, sometimes you can get a second bleach cap. this just means a second process. sometimes i will pull my customers through a cap, process it for maybe 15 min, cuz you never want to leave then under the dryer too long. rinse it, keep the cap on, dry it , then apply a second application of bleach, then process it again. you got to be careful because this can should only be done that hair that is in good condition. if it's dry and damaged it just going to melt it. you could always just get some honey highlights put it, and go blonder gradually.
