I have a few blonde highlights. They are a little lighter but what I notice most is light brown unhighlighted hair is brassy color. Help please!
Can using Nexxus Aloe Rid shampoo turn natural light brown hair brassy/ orange color?
it sounds as though you either had cap highlights and the lightener may have bled under it while being rinsed or a toner with too high a level of developer was used.
aloe rid is a clarifying shampoo and should only be used on chorinated hair or too remove build up. using this on natural hair may cause some stripping of color and rough up the cuticle. if you've been using that shampoo it is possible that it is the culprit
or, sometimes highlights can give the illusion that surrounding hair is lighter than you recall

It could be the shampoo. Even if you have been using Nexxus products for years, things have changed.
Jheri Redding developed the original Nexxus product lines, which were sold exclusively through salons. My stylist told me that in May of 2005, Nexxus was sold to Alberto Culver. A-C then began mass marketing the products, trying to ride on the good reputation of Nexxus. Part of their strategy, however, involved making the products more cheaply, and as a result, the formulations were changed. Consumers still paid the price, in more ways than one. Salons began getting complaints about Nexxus products, and many, including the one I go to, dropped Nexxus altogether. Even the professional supply company that my stylist worked with stopped carrying Nexxus, and pulled everything off the shelves of all the local salons. They could not afford to be associated with Nexxus any more, so performed their own sort of recall.
Take your Nexxus products back to the salon or store where you bought them. Tell them why you are dissatisfied, and request a full refund. Also let the store manager know that you are aware that Nexxus products are not the same they used to be, and will no longer be buying any of them. Reputable stores and salons do not want to be associated with inferior products either. Perhaps Alberto Culver will realize the mistake they made in changing the Nexxus products.
Herbal Essences Drama Clean shampoo and conditioner, or Neutrogena's Anti Residue shampoo are both good clarifying products. It sounds like it's time for a change.
