I want to dye my hair a light blonde when its light brown right now?

I recently tried dying my light brown hair a medium ash blonde color, but it came out practically the same color it was before, just more goldish. I was wondering, since its such a light brown now, if it would turn out right if I tried to go to a light ash blonde?

Go to a salon and get it done. First off, Hair Color can't lighten Hair Color, it can only lighten Natural Color, so you would require bleach to lighten it and seriously, don't try and do bleach on your own. Before I knew about hair I made that mistake. If you are using a store bought color it may contain metallic salts which are very bad for your hair (imagine little tiny shiny razor blades are in your hair after using some store bought color. Metallic Salts are never used in professional color because if you then perm it, it literally melts your hair.and it's also the cheap way to make color.) But definitely go to a pro. They know color and will make you look like you want with the least damage possible. If color were as simple as it says on the box I would never have to fix the color they tried to achieve. Do it once do it right is my theory. Especially when if you really screw up your own hair you pay a ton of money for corrective color vs. highlights or all over color. Trust me, we love fixing it for you, but doing it right the first time is better.

It is my opinion that if you are trying to lighten your hair, you really need to see a professional. I know it costs more, but the chemicals that lighten hair are potentially more damaging than ones that just change color. And since you said you already dyed your hair, you could really mess your head up. My boyfriend in high school decided to dye his hair blond and it ended up the dumbest color of red you've ever seen. Don't risk it.

If you are going lighter, even a few shades have a professional do it. My hair never turns out when I go lighter by myself.

doubt you'll get what you want. i'm guessing you're buying boxes of hair color, clairol, l'oreal, garnier, whichever... the thing about the boxes over the counter is they aren't as strong of a dye as what you can find at a salon, or beauty store. probably why you're not getting what you want. to go blonde, unless you like the look of a hay-head, i'd recommend attempting highlights, i did it to myself in highschool, it's do'able. but purchase your stuff at a beauty store. not a highlight kit from kmart

If it is light brown you will want to use a blue base and like a 10% processor. don't use anything with a yellow base it will turn you hair orangie brass. and you can tone it afterward if needed however make sure it is an bluebase (Ash)I hope this helps.

if your hair has any type of artificial haircolor on it right now the only way to make it lighter would be to have your hair bleached or by adding highlights to your hair using a bleach. another haircolor "dye" can not make another haircolor get lighter. if you really are wanting your hair lighter i would highly reccomend that you go to a salon and have a professional highlight your hair!

if you want it that color you should probably go a shade lighter. i've dyed my hair tons of times and i always have that problem so go a shade lighter than what you really want.
