Should i dye my whole hair black again and then add brown highlights?

I have natural brown hair which i have died black and it is growing out

I am considering keeping the black but adding brown highlights but im not sure what is the way to go about doing this?

I would just dye the roots black with a touch up procedure, then use a highlighter specifically for black dyed hair so you get the correct results that you want.
